Reloaded Productions has announced that the upcoming closed beta for APB Reloaded has drawn over 100,000 registrations. Beta registration opened last month and closed at midnight last night. The closed beta is scheduled to begin on February 28. APB Reloaded will not launch worldwide, instead rolling out in beta gradually in different territories. Reloaded Productions expects that roughly half of those who registered, or about 50,000 people, will participate in the closed beta.
APB was originally developed by Dundee, Scotland-based Realtime Worlds as a subscription-based game. APB failed to find an audience and was shut down roughly two months after its initial launch, as part of the shutdown of Realtime Worlds itself. GamersFirst bought the rights to APB and formed Reloaded Productions to transform the game into a freemium title that could support microtransactions. GamersFirst also plans to offer some form of optional premium subscription to the game.
