Mobile social gaming network OpenFeint has announced that client developer Halfbrick, creator of Fruit Ninja, boosted downloads of its new game Monster Dash 123% in two days by using OpenFeint’s cross-promotion tools. Halfbrick used OpenFeint’s tools to promote Monster Dash within Fruit Ninja, reaching the latter game’s 23 million players. After the promotion, Monster Dash had jumped nearly 100 spots on the App Store Top Games list to #48. Monster Dash also rose from #267 to #84 on the Top Paid Apps list.
OpenFeint calls this cross-promotion tool developer announcements. OpenFeint also offers other player acquisition tools like its Free Game of the Day and Fire Sale discount promotions. OpenFeint says that making a title a Free Game of the Day can help a game acquire up to 2 million new players and boost its App Store ranking. Fire Sale uses a group-buying model to encourage players to commit to buying a premium game at a discounted rate. Both options are available through OpenFeint’s Game Channel app.
