Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) announced today that it had purchased Forterra System's OLIVE. OLIVE was Forterra's main product, offering a virtual world platform for collaboration, training, and planning. However, it sounds like Forterra has been in a downturn, raising $1.2 million over the summer, but then reportedly laying off half of its workforce just before Christmas. At the time, it was rumored that Forterra would be sold to a defense systems integrator. It looks like SAIC is stepping in.
