Electronic Arts has developed its upcoming Dragon Age: Legends social game in HTML5, which will allow it to appear both on Facebook and mobile platforms. Dragon Age: Legends was created by EA2D, one of EA’s internal studios, and has been available in beta since last fall. The game will launch publicly this coming week, to coincide with the launch of Dragon Age 2 for PC and consoles on March 8. Dragon Age: Legends is a turn-based fantasy RPG where players assume the role of a warrior, mage, or rogue.
The mobile version of Dragon Age: Legends will not offer full access to the Facebook version of the game, but will allow players to engage in the game’s time-based mechanics like crafting potions or collecting gold. Players can also check their currency balances. Right now EA is promoting the mobile version of the social game as a companion to the Facebook game. The game monetizes through a cash-based virtual currency called Crowns. Players cannot yet make microtransaction purchases with this currency through the mobile version of the game.
