Hi-Rez Studios has announced that its sci-fi themed MMO shooter Global Agenda will go free to play this month, when the Free Agent update launches. Global Agenda removed its subscription fees in June of last year, but still required users to purchase the game. Once the game goes freemium, users will be able to play through all current content for free. Users may pay an optional $19.99 one-time free to receive Elite Agent status, which gives characters gain experience and items faster, in-game mail access, full in-game chat access, ad-free in-game audio chat, and access the in-game auction house.
Users who previously purchased a retail copy of the game will automatically receive Elite Agent status after the update. Global Agenda will continue to offer microtransaction virtual goods called Boosters that can offer players double XP, additional loot, tokens, and credits. In addition to making Global Agent freemium, the Free Agent update adds new content to the game including a new raid, revised skill trees, and a new player-versus-player game mode.
