Mobile and social ad offer network Tapjoy is launching a self-publishing program. The program invites mobile developers to publish their games through Tapjoy network, leveraging Tapjoy’s features to promote their games. Tapjoy calls the arrangement self-publishing because developers retain full control of their IP and users as part of the deal. Developers with early-stage and pre-launch apps that Tapjoy finds promising can close deals to get funds to complete a game’s development.
Once completed, games published through Tapjoy can leverage the network’s distribution and monetization features. Select titles will get monthly marketing credits to drive new user acquisition. Tapjoy says it has already closed several publishing deals, including one with 5th Planet Games, and has already acted as primary publisher for hundreds of games on iOS and Android. Tapjoy’s pay-per-install mobile ad offer network drives over 1.5 million game installs per day across iPhone, Android, iPad.
Tapjoy generates $35 million in revenue per month across all 100 million partner social applications and reaches over 200 million unique mobile consumers. Tapjoy already runs a pay-per-action distribution network and has partnered with publishers like Glu Mobile to drive the monetization of games like Gun Bros. Tapjoy closed a $21 million round of funding in January, to fund growth of its network and raise capital for new investment opportunities.
