Tapjoy and Glu Mobile have partnered to help fuel growth and monetization in Glu’s freemium mobile social game Gun Bros, which has been downloaded 6.8 million times on iPod, iPhone, iPad, and Android since its launch late last year. In its first two months alone, Gun Bros generated $610,000 in non-GAAP revenue for Glu Mobile. Many of these payments were made through Alt Pay, Tapjoy’s alternative payments platform. Tapjoy also allows users to earn the game’s War Bucks virtual currency in Gun Bros in exchange for accepting targeted ad offers or installing promoted apps.
Gun Bros players can redeem War Bucks for in-game power-ups including new guns, armor, and explosives. Earlier last month, Tapjoy also launched pay-per-action ad offer monetization. Earlier this year, Tapjoy took a $21 million round of new funding. Tapjoy (formerly Offerpal) is also active in social network monetization and acquired cross-promotion service Appstrip late last year. Glu Mobile’s Facebook is available on Facebook and other social networks in addition to mobile platforms.
