Mind Candy has announced that its Moshi Monsters toy line, already available in the UK, will be available in the US through a partnership with US toy distributor Spin Master. The new toys will debut this Sunday at the Spin Master booth at the New York Toy Fair, booth 2249 on level 3. Mind Candy says the UK toy line, produced by master toy partner Vivid, is already selling above initial expectations and drawing re-orders from sold-out retailers. Mind Candy CEO will speak about the transmedia growth of the Moshi Monsters franchise at the Engage! Expo and Conference in the Javits Conference Center at 11:30 am on February 18th.
Mind Candy says that one in every five US kids has adopted a Moshi Monster, which trails just slightly behind the UK ratio of one Moshi Monster for every three kids. The US is the single biggest global territory for Moshi Monsters, accounting for roughly 11 million (or one-third) of the site’s over 34 million registered users. Moshi Monsters targets boys and girls aged 6 to 12 with a combination of virtual pets, brain-teasing puzzles, and online socialization.
The Moshi Monsters toy range that Spin Master will debut at Toy Fair includes plush toys based on six key Moshi Monsters characters: Poppet, Katsuma, Diavlo, Zommer, Furi, and Luvli. It also includes a range of collectible figurines based on the game’s Moshlings, the little monsters that Moshi Monsters can keep as pets. Many of the toys will come packaged with virtual item codes that can be redeemed at the Moshi Monsters virtual world to unlock in-game bonuses.
