gWallet has partnered with Old Navy for a $15,000 contest that challenges developers to make mock-ups that creatively integrate the Old Navy brand into a social network, game, or virtual world in original and effective ways. The contest begins in early February and will give competing developers ten days to complete their mock-ups. gWallet and Old Navy will select three finalists and launch their integrations live for two weeks. These developers will also have the exclusive opportunity to distribute an Old Navy offer that rewards users with virtual currency in their community.
“Since founding gWallet, our top priority has been working with major brands to find creative ways they can access social game players,” said Rebecca Weeks Watson, Vice President of Business Development at gWallet, in a press statement. “Having sponsored successful virtual parties in games this past holiday season, Old Navy has established itself as a leader in the space, and the ‘Old Navy Developers Challenge’ is the perfect collaboration to leverage the innovation of both companies to give developers a fun and easy way to show off their skills.”
The event will conclude at a free live event that takes place in San Francisco on March 1. At the event, each finalist will demonstrate their integration on-stage and share their solution’s performance metrics. After the presentations, a panel of judges including executives from Old Navy, gWallet, CrowdStar, and AKQA will determine the grand prize winner and distribute the $15,000 prize check. Old Navy and gWallet will promote the contest on their Facebook pages and feature it in national trade publications. Developers interested in participating must register by January 31.
