Funcom has announced that its Stunlock Studios-developed freemium MMORPG, Bloodline Champions, has launched featuring Vivox integrated voice chat support. Bloodline Champions launched last week, on January 13, after a beta period that began last November. Bloodline Champions is a game that focuses exclusively on player-versus-player team battles. Players will be able to use Vivox’s voice chat to coordinate their efforts with teammates in real time. Funcom says that Bloodline Champions is unique in that it is completely skill-based.

“In creating a PvP arena game, it was important for us to provide our players with the tools to establish camaraderie and plan battle tactics effectively,” said Tau Peterssen, CEO of Stunlock Studios, in a press statement. “Partnering with Vivox was an easy choice, as they provide a cutting-edge voice solution that has proven to  engage and excite online communities. Thanks to Vivox we were able to quickly and easily integrate features into Bloodline Champions that we never imagined possible.”

Vivox’s voice chat integration in Bloodline Champions will be both high-definition and “3D.” What this means is that players will experience conversations with other players as they would in real life. If a player is speaking to a teammate whose avatar is far away, the teammate’s voice will sound faint and distant. When players speak while their avatars are standing next to each other, their voices will be louder. Vivox says this feature will help support Bloodline Champions’s emphasis on fast-paced team-oriented play.
