IMVU Launches Holiday E-Card Promotion

Virtual world IMVU has announced a holiday-themed viral campaign centering on a free e-card virtual gift. The campaign encourages IMVU users to send e-cards that embed IMVU-themed, holiday-themed music videos to friends and family. Users can send the cards to friends on Facebook using Facebook Connect at the IMVU Holiday Card site or via e-mail. Users can send videos based on IMVU’s versions of the Christmas standards Jingle Bells or We Wish You A Merry Christmas.

Users can opt to embed Facebook photos of the friend in question in the card and include that friend’s name in the lyrics. Users can review the video e-cards before sending them. In addition to Facebook and email, users can share e-cards using a card’s URL or embed code, similar to sharing a YouTube video. Each e-card will contain an embedded link shaped like snowman graphic that users can click to begin the process of signing up for IMVU. The campaign is reminiscent of AdNectar’s branded video virtual gifts, which have enjoyed some success on Facebook.
