Virtual world IMVU is launching casual and social games on its platform. The company plans to partner with social developers Heyzap, Viximo, and OMGPOP to make in-world games available to its over 50 million registered users. IMVU users can launch games from the IMVU Website or from within IMVU's 3DChat virtual world. At launch, IMVU will offer over 75 games.
"We are excited to be partnering with IMVU to introduce social games that allow IMVU community members to engage with one another like never before," said Dale Strang, CEO of Viximo. "Many of our games, like IMVU-branded Top Modelz, integrate seamlessly with IMVU’s virtual goods. This makes it possible for the millions of IMVU community members to personalize their fun in our games."
IMVU users will be able to purchase in-game virtual goods using IMVU's own Credits virtual currency. Some of the games will be specially branded for IMVU, such as Top Modelz, a special branded version of Viximo's Photo Market. The games provided by OMGPOP will sell special in-game virtual goods available only to IMVU users, which customize the game experience. OMGPOP's games will also integrate a user's IMVU avatar and allow users to add friends from within the game app.
