Poptropica Launches Prepaid Cards
Prepaid cards for the Poptropica virtual world are now available in over 1100 Target locations nationwide. The cards are sold in $10 denominations and can be applied toward either membership fees or the purchase of virtual currency.
"With our Poptropica Game Cards available at one of the country's largest retailers, parents who don't have access to a credit card now have an easy way to purchase Memberships or Credits for their kids," said Jess M. Brallier, publisher of Poptropica, in a press statement.
Once the card is activated at Poptropica.com, players can choose to either purchase membership or virtual currency. Players who purchase membership will receive benefits like early access to new Poptropica islands and unlimited use of the game's costumes.
Players who opt to buy virtual currency can spend it on costumes for their avatars or Gold Cards, which let players customize their characters with a variety of in-game powers. There are currently 14 islands available in Poptropica, with more planned for future release.
