This week saw Offerpal launch a new product called SocialKast, designed to help social game developers make up for the loss of viral channels on Facebook and grow their games into wider Web communities. Offerpal calls SocialKast a "user acquisition and re-engagement solution." SocialKast makes it possible for social developers to send Facebook-style game notifications to users on a variety of social media platforms, including Google and Yahoo. SocialKast's total reach across all compatible platforms is over 1 billion users in distributed throughout 150 countries.
The announcement of SocialKast comes a week after Offerpal announced that it would lay off employees due to not being selected as the ad offer provider for Facebook Credits. It also follows a month after Offerpal's announcement that it had passed the certification process for operating on Yahoo's new social gaming platform. Facebook has gone out of its way to clamp down on the viral spread of games on its platform, which competing services like Google and Yahoo have come to see as an opportunity. Offerpal is clearly seeing an opportunity there, too.
