Zynga Partners With Green Giant For FarmVille Goods
Zynga closed a deal with the produce distributor Green Giant that will package virtual item codes in with fresh Green Giant products including tomatoes, carrots, and prepared salad mixes. Buyers will be able to redeem the codes in FarmVille for small amounts of Zynga's FarmCash virtual currency, generally 15 or less. The real money value of 15 Farm Cash is about $3. Users can redeem up to three of these item codes per account.
This is Zynga's second major physical retail tie-in, running concurrently with its 7-Eleven promotion that features exclusive virtual goods. The Green Giant brand is owned by food product giant General Mills, which hasn't been an active participant in social media promotions before this. While the 7-Eleven deal is big for Zynga, the Green Giant promotion could be more significant for Zynga's image in the long run. Green Giant is a well-established and extremely trusted brand, especially among adult women.
