Today Offerpal Media announced the launch of GamePoints.com, a free-standing Web portal that would allow users to accept a variety of ad offers and other alternate monetization tasks in exchange for Offerpal's Game Points universal virtual currency. Users could then spend Game Points on virtual currency, goods, and services in any game or app that supported Offerpal's Managed Offer Platform. This will allow users to spend Game Points in Facebook social games, virtual worlds, and game portals.
GamePoints.com will support all of Offerpal's usual monetization types, including CPA offers, shopping incentives, surveys, tasks, and direct payments. The portal will also feature some monetization options that users will not be able to access from Offerpal's standard I-frame implementation. The new monetization types include trading in unwanted gift cards, recycling used electronics, online music purchases, buying movie tickets, and subscribing to magazine.
"When you have a limited amount of real estate inside an I-frame, [some things are] really hard to do. The portal is a more complete user experience," said Matt McAllister, Offerpal's Director of Marketing. "[Users] can go ahead and do all of these different things. For the publishers, it gives them a way to get extra liquidity into their game. There's all these gamers with virtual currency they're looking to spend and a page that lists all the games they can spend in."
