Icarus Restructures, Drops Some Employees

Today Icarus Studios announced that the company was restructuring its resources and staff. The company, which has developed both an engine for designing virtual worlds and MMOs as well as its own spinoff title, Fallen Earth, LLC, will be refocusing. According to the announcement, the combined companies will support core members of staff for ongoing customer service and development of Fallen Earth as well as other company projects.

A community moderator for Fallen Earth noted that as of today, there were 28 core staff members in addition to customer support staff and other game moderators brought in from the outside. Worlds in Motion says that prior to restructuring, Icarus as a whole boasted 110 workers with Fallen Earth, LLC, alone supporting 55 employees. 

Recently Fallen Earth's lead game designer walked away from the company. Acting in response last week, Icarus promoted four veterans to management positions in the game development company.

"While this is a challenging step for us," said Hettinger, "the steps were taken to maintain the growth, continued development and profitability of Fallen Earth."
