Last year saw a steady stream of Electronic Arts executives depart the company for new roles with social game developers, but this may be the first instance of an EA exec leaving the company to move into the payment services space. This week Jambool, parent company of Social Gold, confirmed the hire of former EA Vice President of Global Marketing Mike Quigley. He will join Social Gold as its new Chief Marketing Officer.

Quigley left EA in January after ten years with the company, overseeing the marketing efforts for games including The Sims, Need for Speed, Warhammer Online, and Dragon Age Origins. At Social Gold, Quigley's mission will be to build Social Gold's brand in the payments space and get more developers to use the service.

Social Gold maintains two major projects, a payment solution for social games and a payment solution for Flash games. Current Social Gold partners include Miniclip.com, GamerSafe, and the mobile pay service Zong. Both of Social Gold's products allow users to complete transactions completely in-app, which the compay says can boost conversion as high as 50%
