Quepasa Partners With Moblyng For Social Games
Latino-oriented social network Quepasa announced this week that it had signed an app distribution deal with social and mobile game developer Moblyng. The deal will allow Moblyng to make its library of games available to Quepasa users through the social network's OpenSocial framework. Both Web and mobile versions of the social games will be available through Quepasa. Revenue generated by the games will be shared between Quepasa and Moblyng.
Moblyng will have eight games available for Quepasa's users at launch: m:Live Power, m:Vampire, m:Mafia, m:Racing, m:Zombies, Dungeon Quest, WordRacer and Narcotraficante. Each game will be available in localized Spanish and Portuguese versions as well as their original English. Mobile platforms the games will be compatible with include the Nokia S60 Series, iPhone, Android, Palm WebOS. Moblyng hopes to have BlackBerry(RIM) and OMS versions ready for launch in 2010.
The deal with Moblyng follows an earlier Quepasa deal with TwoFish that introduced virtual currency and virtual gifting to the social network. Quepasa uses proprietary QPoints and QDollars virtual currencies, which will probably used in the Moblyng social games that support virtual goods transactions. This ensures that Quepasa will get a cut of all transactions, money that older social networks like MySpace and Facebook ended up leaving on the table (though Facebook currently has a virtual currency of its own in beta).
Moblyng also makes certain titles available for the Nokia 5800 and N97 smartphones. It was among one of the first mobile social start-ups to make multiplatform availability a major priority, which the company chalks up to its platform-agnostic development process. Games are developed using a proprietary Moblyng technology that then makes the porting process trivial, allowing the company to maximize its reach. Through Quepasa, Moblyng will be reaching a community of about 5 million potential new users.
