This week the browser-based virtual world Vivaty introduced a new cash-based virtual currency, VivaBux. Users will be able to spend VivaBux on virtual locations called "scenes," virtual furniture, gifts, virtual clothing for avatars, and eventually enhanced services. Users can purchase VivaBux with credit cards, checking accounts, or PayPal. It costs $4.95 for 400 VivaBux, $9.95 for 800, and $24.95 for 2000.
The virtual world's other virtual currency, Vivaty Points, will continue to be a part of the game. Players earn this currency by participating in the world and will still be able to use it to purchase furniture and clothing items. Many items will be available for purchase in either VivaBux or Vivaty Points, though prices for items in Vivaty Points will be higher. A new scene that costs only 99 VivaBux could cost as many as 7500 Vivaty Points.
