6a00d8341bf74053ef01157036617f970b-800wi Earlier this year, Taser, the maker of real-world stun guns used primarily by law enforcement agencies, filed a lawsuit in US District Court, District of Arizona (Phoenix) claiming Second Life creators Linden Lab (and others) had damaged the company’s reputation and hurt sales by allowing virtual Taser guns to be sold within the Second Life world. Patent Arcade has now reported that Taser voluntarily dismissed the case. According to the site, Taser filed a Notice of Voluntary Case Dismissal on May 5, 2009 and adds that because Linden never filed an answer to the original complaint, the dismissal is "without prejudice" — meaning Taser could choose to refile at a later date. Patent Arcade is a blog created and maintained by Banner & Witcoff, a Chicago-based law firm.
