Virtual Goods Shine In 2009′s OnHollywood 100
Today AlwaysOn announced its OnHollywood Top 100 list, which is designed to recognize the coming year's most promising and innovative digital media companies working in the general entertainment space. This year's list is full of names that should be very familiar to readers of this site, which suggests that companies embracing the virtual goods business model are sitting at the forefront of technological innovation in entertainment.
While the full list may be viewed here, an abbreviated version listing the eighteen included companies that monetize at least in part through virtual goods sales is below. PlaySpan and Viximo are especially distinguished in the OnHollywood Top 100 list as they are counted among the six "category winners" selected as the best in their particular field of digital media. The two companires are recognized for their innovations in monetizing digital media and in both cases, the companies built their models around the sale of virtual goods to consumers in a wide variety of channels.
